Dakar, Dec 29 (APS) – The coach of the local national team, Souleymane Diallo affirmed, Saturday, that he has already planned before qualification, his preparation for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025, scheduled for February 1 to 28 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda (East Africa).
»I even worked even before the double confrontation with Liberia. I made a schedule until February. We must plan by giving ourselves the means to achieve our goals. We are going to build on the planning already established,” he said at a press conference.
The local Lions beat Liberia (3-0) on Saturday at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium, thus validating their qualification for CHAN 2025.
Oumar Ba (4th min), Baye Assane Ciss (37th min) and Seydina Mandione Mbaye (90th min) scored the goals for Senegal.
For Souleymane Diallo, it will be necessary to “accustom” these young players to playing African competitions in Africa.
»Sometimes, we grab the mantle of our outgoing African champion title. It’s important. But you will agree with me that there are two survivors in the group, most of them are novices, out of the 21 players selected, 9 are juniors,” he argues.
He stressed that this “is not a risk,” but a projection.
“It was a philosophy of the Technical Direction, of the Federation so that the selections get involved, it will make it easier,” explained Souleymane Diallo.
Title holders, the Lions will have the difficult task of aiming for a second coronation in this competition reserved for players playing at home.
