If the Marguerite-Filhol high school has had a partnership for twenty years with the IEP of , it is always useful to take high school students into the field to understand how the institutions work. This is why 25 high school students from political science and the history-geography, geopolitics and political science option visited the capital, from Tuesday December 17 to Friday December 20.

First received in the senate by Michel Masset, senator from Lot-et-Garonne, they were then entitled to a presentation of the “making” of laws and a visit to the Palais du Luxembourg. The next day, they rang the doorbell of the Palais Bourbon. The teenagers discovered the institution there, accompanied by Guillaume Lepers, MP for Lot-et-Garonne.

Meeting with a former high school student from Fumel

The highlight of the visit, however, was the meeting with Anna, a former student of the Fumélois high school, who had become responsible for the preparation and discussion of the laws. She presented her journey and her arrival at the National Assembly after an entrance exam. After three hours of discussions, the Second World War and the regime were on the agenda, with a visit to the Memorial of the former camp.

With the help of the guide, they were able to better understand the functioning of this camp during the war and the mechanism of the process of dehumanization, then deportation and killing. Some period images completed the guide's comments. The evening of this second day was more festive, with the Eiffel Tower.

On the third day, it was the visit to Notre-Dame which amazed the students. The students then headed to the Panthéon and, finally, to the Quai-Branly museum, dedicated to the arts of different continents and built according to the plans of Jean Nouvel from Fumélo.

The Guimet museum, dedicated to Asian arts, is finally on the program for a stay very rich in emotions and discoveries.
