This installation is part of a political context marked by the presentation, the day before, of the Prime Minister’s General Policy Declaration (DPG).

In Senegal, the National Assembly installed the members of the High Court of Justice on Saturday, after an electronic vote garnering broad support. Out of 146 voters, 140 approved the composition of the Court, composed of eight full members and eight alternates.

The newly installed full members are: Alioune Ndao, Ramatoulaye Bodian, Youngar Dione, Amadou Ba (n°2), Rokhy Ndiaye, Ayib Daffé, Daba Waniane, and Abdou Mbow. As for the substitutes, they are: Samba Dang, Oulimata Sidibé, Elhadj Ababacar Tambédou, Fatou Diop Cissé, Mouramani Kaba Diakité, Marie Hélène Diouf, Mayabé Mbaye, and Fatou Sow.

After the members were sworn in, the President of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, officially installed them.

The High Court of Justice plays a fundamental role in the Senegalese judicial system. In accordance with article 100 of the Constitution of Senegal, it is responsible for judging the President of the Republic in cases of high treason, as well as members of the government for criminal acts committed in the exercise of their functions. The Court also has jurisdiction to judge serious offenses committed by senior state officials, thereby strengthening the separation of powers and ensuring accountability of leaders. The role of the High Court is essential to ensure transparency and justice at the highest levels of government.

This session follows the presentation, on Friday December 27, 2024, of the Prime Minister’s General Policy Declaration (DPG), which detailed the government’s priorities in the short, medium and long terms, while answering questions from deputies.
