At the end of this eventful year, the time has come to award merits in federal politics. The government survived the fall, but elections will certainly be held in the coming year. Let’s see who in 2024 was able to take key actions to score points. Happy New Year to everyone!

This Liberal minister became Justin Trudeau’s lieutenant in Quebec last September, replacing Pablo Rodriguez. A trusted figure in the Quebec region, he effectively conveys liberal messages and makes himself available to the media. If necessary, he fights a little with the Legault government.

Pierre Poilievre
Pierre Poilievre started the year with a lead of around ten points over the Liberals. Today, this gap is around 20%. It’s huge and rarely seen. Although we may say that he has before him a government that is suffering from wear and tear, we must recognize that the Conservative leader’s messages hit the target with formidable effectiveness.

Credibility does not particularly abound around Justin Trudeau. But this trusted man of the Prime Minister knows how to be taken seriously. He was the one who accompanied Justin Trudeau to dinner with Trump at Mar-a-Lago. It was also his intervention that calmed the provinces regarding the border.

Andréanne Larouche
She is the spokesperson for the Bloc for seniors. The increased pension, the $250 check, the Bloc scored a lot of points defending this group. It was Yves-François Blanchet who we saw most often carrying the torch publicly, but Madame Larouche knew how to cultivate the fruits so that her leader and his party could harvest them.

The Minister of Labor was able to move quickly and effectively for the economic health of the country. Rail transport strike, port strike, he took extreme measures to avoid major economic damage. He was able to escape from the shackles that the alliance with the NDP, a party entirely dedicated to the union centers, could have created for him. His words and actions demonstrated a happy blend of good judgment and determination.

The caribou issue is seen in Montreal as a very noble environmental priority. However, in certain regions, killing the forestry industry would represent a terrible sacrifice in terms of jobs. A mayor even spoke of the death of her hometown. The fiery Conservative MP from Saguenay was able to stir up Minister Guilbeault and also force the Bloc to clarify its position.

40 years old. Yes, on September 4, the devoted MP for Bécancour-Nicolet-Saurel celebrated his 40th anniversary in the Commons. Keeping the trust of your fellow citizens to be re-elected is good, but keeping all your passion after so many years is even better. Inspiring!
