While winter is here, a great action is being prepared in . To help the homeless, the Calice et Mandibule boutique, rue de , is joining forces with theassociation “For a smile” and organizes a “fabricative” evening Friday December 27, 2024from 5 p.m.

Cozy and warm accessories

The principle: “Organize a volunteer “upcycling and solidarity threads” workshop to design accessories that will warm the most deprived this winter“, indicates Fanny Poncel, at the head of this creative living space opened two years ago, but which also operates a restaurant and tea room with a chef, Oumou Sy.

The volunteers will be brought together “to make together and on a voluntary basis, cozy and warm accessories from recycled materials (donations of wool and old sweaters). These “hats, scarves, neck warmers, mittens and blankets which will be given out during the association’s food raids”.

And for those who are afraid of not making it, don't panic. “No need for great skills, it will involve assembling squares of wool, turning the crank of the large knitting machine, cutting up old sweaters to make warming accessories. »

There will be equipment on site. However, “participants are encouraged to bring old sweaters and blankets.”

Collecting donations and fundraising

It was a few weeks ago that Fanny and Lou, a customer of the tea room who had just created the “For a smile” association with her sister Chloé, hit it off. “It all started with a collection for Christmas and one thing led to another, we quickly wanted to work together for a good cause,” explains Fanny Poncel.

A collection of donations will be organized for the evening. Everyone can come and drop off childcare equipment, hygiene products, baby pots and diapers, coats, hats, scarves, gloves, blankets, shoes, etc.

A gourmet aperitif will also raise funds for the association which is “committed to providing support and comfort to children and homeless people in Le Havre”.
