On the occasion of the announcement of his government, François Bayrou decided to appoint former Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne to the post of Minister of National Education this Monday, December 23.
An unexpected return for many. Once again a deputy for Calvados, Elisabeth Borne will make her return to the Council of Ministers. She was in fact appointed Minister of National Education this Monday, December 23. According to several sources, she was at one time approached by the Ministry of the Armed Forces.
Elisabeth Borne is part of François Bayrou's desire to surround himself with experienced political figures to face a divided and hostile National Assembly.
A contrasting experience at Matignon
The former president of RATP thus has significant experience. Indeed, Elisabeth Borne held several positions, Transport, Ecological Transition and Labor, until Matignon, as Prime Minister.
A visit to Matignon noted in particular for his use of article 49.3 to have bills relating to the state budget adopted, but also the sulfurous pension reform. Elisabeth Borne has become the target of La France insoumise, but also of the National Rally, which continues to criticize her policies.
The new minister will be responsible for bringing stability to an institution which has suffered from multiple changes. Indeed, in one year, National Education has had several ministers, including some who have sparked heated controversies, such as Amélie Oudéa-Castéra.
