The new generation of drawing takes over the walls of the Hôtel des arts TPM, in . There Villa Noaillesin partnership with the Métropole Toulon Provence Méditerranée, and la revue The Drawer imagined this meeting around the very young drawing scene, visible since December 6, and until December 1is February 2025. An exhibition in which we therefore only find artists present in the magazine, 27 in total, except Perrine Boudy who took over the entrance by drawing colorful stripes. The color is also “ reine » for this exhibition explain the two commissioners. It is found both in the works presented, like Cléo Robert's cotton handkerchiefs on which we see fangs or a Pikachu, and in the scenography imagined by designer Joachim Jirou-Najou: “ As we had a lot of works, I wanted to offer a discreet and punctual presentation with flat areas and sticks of color, used as windows. Color allows you to make a link or accompany the visitor's eye. »

Drawing in all its forms

Even if the sheet of paper remains essential, “ the drawing unfolds on the walls and objects », remarks Barbara Soyer.

« Many of the drawings take the form of installations. This says a lot about what is practiced today », continues Sophie Toulouse.

The work ofAzad Avaguian-Eurdekian“Suite n°8”, is displayed on the entire wall of 1is floor of the Hôtel des Arts. “ It’s a big project that I’m building over several years. This is its eighth activation and each time I hook it differently depending on where I am. The idea is that these drawings, of varying sizes and which seem to struggle with their own format, dialogue together. »

The winter duo in Toulon

© K. Sarrazin – Morgane Ely moves to the old bishopric to present “Pink Spring”.

The artist Morgane Elywinner of the Villa Noailles Révélations Emerige prize in 2023, presents to the former bishopric of Toulon the rendering of her residence at the villa through an exhibition composed of 29 wood engravings which “ talk about intimacy “. The young artist reveals on a black background portraits of young women evoking eroticism and lust, taken from Japanese erotic magazines.

Portraits made using a very specific technique: the initial image is transferred to poplar plywood panels, then Morgane Ely sprays them with pink spray before engraving them. “ This bomb helps me to differentiate the part to be engraved from the part that is not. This is the only means of reference that I have found. But it has since also become a bias because I realized that the pink stood out. » She delved deeper into this wood engraving technique during an exchange in Tokyo, inspired by traditional Japanese print.

The room also has a dioramarepresenting a printing workshop “ idealized », decorated with traditional tools and personal objects.
