Environment Canada is forecasting significant snowfall Monday and Tuesday in several regions of Quebec. The south of the province will therefore have a white Christmas, but precipitation could complicate travel.
A weather advisory from the federal agency estimates that 10 to 15 centimeters of snow could fall in the regions of Montreal, Montérégie, Lanaudière, Laurentides, but also in Outaouais, Mauricie, Center-du-Québec and in Estrie.
Precipitation is expected to begin late Monday and continue overnight into Tuesday morning. This could reduce visibility on the roads, warns Environment Canada.
The snow accumulated on the ground should remain until the weekend, since temperatures will oscillate between -5°C and -17°C over the next few days, according to Environment Canada forecasts.
The mercury will rise above freezing on Saturday.
