Three days before Christmas, English boxing was at the party Saturday evening in Ajaccio. In a crowded Rossini room, more thana thousand spectators had indeed taken their place around the ring, for the Ajaccian Boxing Club (BCA) gala. The event, which was initially scheduled to take place the previous weekend, had to be postponed for a week due to the coming of the Holy Father in the imperial city. And despite the change of date, this last gala of the year was full. These are 13 fights – all amateurs – who were on the bill for the evening.
The opportunity to show an Ajaccian public, always so knowledgeable in matters of noble art, the performances of young island boxersfrom all the clubs on the island.
Damien Giacomini, call a bison
The honor of opening the gala was left to the Ring junior from Bastia Lucas Arnos, winner in the red corner against his continental opponent from the Angles club (Gard).
A red color which was successful for the Corsicans since everyone won their fight during the first part of the evening.
The opportunity to see young people who are starting to gain confidencelike BBS junior Balanin Gabriel Fremont, winner – for his 5th fight – against Arles boxer Valerio Badin; or Damien Giacomini, from the BCA, warmly welcomed by the Rossini audience. Generous and committed, the latter rushed at Marseillais Mohamed Arfaoui like a buffalo and easily won the fight, in front of a satisfied trainer. “He made us happy, he has three months in the gym and this is his first fight. We are happy with his will, he must persevere,” reacted Pierre Paoli after the victory of his protégé.
