Before enjoying the end of year celebrations, the FCB players were offered, Saturday December 21, a match at the top with the reception of Périgny, promoted which never ceases to surprise. No less than first place was at stake in the event of success for one of the two teams.

Before that, the Bressuirais displayed unfailing defensive solidity, with only five goals conceded in eleven games. A total which will almost be doubled at the end of the meeting…

It only took eight minutes for the Maritimes to already find the key to the Bressuire defense, struggling in the recovery, through Thiburce, already a scorer against Thouars last week. Like the beginnings of the nightmarish evening that awaited Samir Bakir's players? Ultimately no, since it didn't take long for them to put their heads back together.

In difficulty when it comes to scoring, this time they were not to miss twice, thanks to Nan Soueilem (16^e), in fox, and Barreira (33^e), of the head. We then had to hold on to reach the locker room in the lead. But Périgny did not come as a victim and took advantage of the last minutes, before the break, to catch up with the inevitable Thiburce who scored a double on a set piece (42^e).

Périgny does not miss the opportunity

Local spectators then hoped for a return to form from their protégés after the break. But it was the Maritimes who returned to the field full of desire. A domination which was concluded by a new goal from Guemas (53^e). Never until then this season had the Bocains conceded three times. They now had to work hard to catch up.

The visitors held on to their precious success and defended their advantage against the opposing waves. And, as is often the case in such cases, a final counter allowed Sauvage (82^e) to definitively seal the score of the match.

Périgny is indeed the leader when it comes to enjoying the holidays, but remains under threat from Thouars, big winner in La Rochelle (3-0), now two points behind with a game less. The Bressuirais, for their part, have fallen back to sixth place and have four handicap points halfway through, in a championship which will of course still have its share of twists and turns in store.
