The City of Quimper is launching a Christmas tree recycling campaign, from Thursday December 26, 2024 to Tuesday January 7, 2025. “Each year, many trees are placed with household waste or thrown onto public roads. They must be incinerated, which is costly for the community and contrary to sustainable development practices,” city services indicate in a press release. The neighborhood councils of Quimper, with the support of the municipality and the support of technical services, invite the residents of Quimper to make a gesture that is both ecological and economical, by giving a second life to the fir trees.
They will be transformed into ground material
As part of the campaign to promote Christmas trees, voluntary drop-off points are set up throughout the neighborhoods to allow Quimper residents to drop off their trees in the best conditions. They will be transformed into crushed material. In order to optimize the recovery of this green waste, the trees must be devoid of decoration, not flocked, without bags and without metal base type legs. Residents are asked not to place anything at the bottom of the bins, nor to put other objects there.
Five points of voluntary contribution
The fir trees can be placed at five voluntary drop-off points from Thursday December 26, 2024 to Tuesday January 7, 2025: at the Ergué Armel town hall, avenue Léon-Blum; in the city center, Allée de Locmaria (left bank car park after Max-Jacob bridge); at the old town hall of Penhars, avenue des Oiseaux; at the MJC/MPT de Kerfeunteun, avenue Teilhard de Chardin (bowling ground); at the MJC/MPT du Moulin-Vert, chemin de Prateyer.
