Friday, December 20, in front of a large audience, made up of civil and military personalities and the families of the recipients, 29 young men and women, in training at the Voluntary Military Service center in Ambérieu-en-Bugey, received their caps, proof of their seriously during the first month of training.
Organized by the departmental military delegation and the BA278 center, a ceremony took place in front of the Bourg war memorial. Despite the 3°C displayed on the thermometer, all the participants stoically followed this event, between laying of wreaths, presentation of medals, military bell ringing, presentation of caps to young people, speeches by the authorities and reception.
The school of interpersonal skills
During his speech, General Pierre-Joseph Givre, director of national service and youth, did not fail to salute the commitment, efforts and hopes for progression of these young people, motivated to get through it.
He also highlighted the excellence of the work of the Ambérieu center, commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel Anaïs Batard, which, with around fifty executives, welcomes nearly 200 volunteer trainees each year to instill in them the values of solidarity, cohesion, surpassing oneself to offer oneself a better future.
Armed for the job
Indeed, the Voluntary Military Service (SMV) promotes the civic and professional integration of young French people aged 18 to 25 excluded from the job market. This military system, based on the acquisition of values and professional training, offers a new start to young men and women.
The mission of these centers (seven in France) is to recruit, train and integrate these young people with few or no qualifications and no jobs into the civil sector. This mission entrusted to soldiers aims to provide lasting support to these volunteers by relying on the fundamentals of interpersonal skills, educational knowledge and know-how.
Most trainees train for eight to twelve months to obtain diplomas or qualifications in numerous sectors, such as: prevention and safety agent, order picker, warehouse forklift driver, automobile maintenance mechanic, Building and Public Works and the list is not exhaustive.
This chance, Solanne, 23 years old, Robin, 18 years old and Clément, 19 years old, seized it. And they were proud, this Friday, to wear their cap, struck with the wings… of hope.
