MEP Raphaël Glucksmann believes that Prime Minister François Bayrou must do “important concessions” to the left, particularly on pensions, to obtain a non-censorship agreement, in an interview with the daily Ouest-France published on Saturday.
“The presidential camp must be ready to make significant concessions on pensions, purchasing power, tax justice… Otherwise, it is not a compromise, it is a surrender”says the head of Place publique, Raphaël Glucksmann, in an interview with West France .
Regretting that the president did not turn to “a personality from the left” for Matignon, in order to mark “taking into account its successive electoral setbacks”Raphaël Glucksmann assures that“We must negotiate a non-censorship agreement with François Bayrou” because the left does not want “not chaos”.
“But for it to work, major fundamental changes are needed”he adds.
He qualifies as “serious misconduct” the temptation to“once again offering Marine Le Pen the power to bring down, or not, the government by giving a thumbs up or down to the National Assembly”.
“And, for this, there are not forty paths: this supposes a non-censorship agreement between the presidential camp and the socialists, the ecologists as well as the communists”he explains, ordering François Bayrou to“advance towards the positions of the left”, “really negotiate with her”.
Appointed to Matignon eight days ago, François Bayrou must appoint a government “before Christmas”. The Socialist Party, which had said it was ready for compromise, regretted Thursday not having “did not find the reasons not to censor” the new Prime Minister.
Its boss, Olivier Faure, said “dismayed at the poverty of what (was) proposed”.
