Frédéric Gueguen (Grenoble, coach) : “First of all, I would like to congratulate AS Cannes because they played a real Coupe de France match. In investment, in determination, in tactical and technical concentration. We were too unequal within the group for us to be able to produce a copy worthy of a 32e of the Coupe de France final. Obviously, the disappointment is great. We really wanted to qualify, to bring back a little blue sky, which we had this afternoon, in the region and in our heads, before leaving on vacation. The sky has seriously darkened. Now we will simply have to accept it. In our misfortune, we have this truce which will allow the entire club to recharge its batteries. We will have to “clean our faces” and be able, after this little break, to make a nice and good self-criticism. And to come back with real intentions and for these intentions to be uniform within the group. »
Bobby Allain (Grenoble, goalkeeper) : “It’s difficult to put our difficulties into words. These are attitudes that I don't like. When we score the first goal, we don't mobilize… it's really hard to explain. It hurts my heart, I really believe in it because we have a lot of qualities in this locker room; and it's really just attitudes and desire to put on the pitch. A duel is simple. Football is only duels and today (read Saturday), we have the impression that we were stepped on in the duels. We lost the first ball. We lost the second ball… and here is today's result. With the supporters, there is no break. It's just that they have been disappointed for two months. But I'm sure they will support us until the end. It's up to us to find solutions for the second part of the season. »
Cheikh N'Doye (Cannes, midfielder and scorer) : “It was really great at the end of the match, between us. We knew we were in a position to beat this Grenoble team. They are going through a complicated period and I think it was the right time to take them. And we took advantage of it. We scored quickly but we started badly, conceding this goal on their first opportunity. We still had success in this match and we have to appreciate it. In this match, everyone saw us as losing; but there is nothing complicated about it. Football is 11 against 11 and it lasts 90 minutes. We showed that we were capable of beating good teams. Because Grenoble, even if they are not at their best at the moment, they are still a good team. »
