Undefeated in their last three championship matches and winners of six of their last seven outings, the Espoirs of the Académie Gautier Cholet saw their good series end this Saturday, December 21 in Nanterre.
Six minutes. This is the time it took for the Nanterriens to take the measure of their hosts from Cholet who, after getting off to the best start (7-11, 3rd), finished the first quarter by conceding a scathing 12-2 in 4 minutes, from 17-17 (6th) to 29-17 (10th). In the wake of Timéo Pons and Nathan Zulemie, the Nanterrians then continued their domination to take the lead at rest with a 15-point lead (53-38).
Despite the efforts of Gabin Lefort (11 points, 7 assists), Robin Pluvy (11 points, 10 assists) or the 17 points of Mohamed Sankhe to compensate for the absence of Léopold Levillain, retained with the pros, or even Soren Bracq (injured in the shoulder), the Choletais could not do anything to stop the Ile-de-France dynamic. Relegated to -24 at the start of the final stretch (80-56, 30th), CB finally conceded its fourth setback of the season by 20 points (97-77).
We were inferior to Nanterre in the physical, athletic dimension and in experience on the field
confirms coach Régis Boissié. We could have done better, but the reality is that we are impacted by the absences of several players.
