After a short week spent in the center of Lisses, in Essone, the players from the Saint-Denis football club joined and more precisely Dives-sur-Mer, where they finished preparing for the big day. This Saturday, December 21 at 6:30 p.m., live on Réunion la 1ère, they face SU Dives-Cabourg, a Nationale 3 team, in the 32nd final of the Coupe de France.

Determined, the Dionysian footballers hope to repeat the feat of Saint-Pierroise, who reached the 16th finals in 2020 after taking out a League 2 club, Chamois Niortais.

This evening, there will only be one division between the two clubs, and the team coached by Fred Bachelier has the opportunity to write a story that is often far from easy for the overseas clubs: only two have managed to reach the round of 16 since the beginning of the Coupe de France.

It must be said that overseas clubs, like the Martinican RC Saint-Joseph who challenged SC yesterday, always have the disadvantage of the terrain – and the temperature – at this stage of the competition.
“Overseas clubs must be treated fairly. At some point, they must have the right to play at home.”supports Younoussa Abdihali, vice-president of FC Saint-Denis interviewed by Franceinfo.

However, the Dionysians will play their luck bravely this evening, as their coach, Fred Bachelier, recalled yesterday, interviewed by Réunion la 1ère on the sidelines of the final training session on the eve of the match. “It will take a good collective, seriousness, application, as always until then, and a lot of solidarity. But we can compete in this match,” he envisions.

Author of the winning shot against USSA in the previous round, Mamoudou Diallo has not said anything else since the team's arrival in mainland France last Tuesday: “In a match, we can beat any team (…) it will be 50/50.” Verdict this evening.
