On December 5 at the Jacques Brel hall in (Val-d'Oise), Roissy Pays de organized the 6e edition of his evening of champions.

On this occasion, 71 athletes from 14 disciplines and 9 cities were rewarded by the Agglomeration represented by Pascal Doll and Michèle Calix (president and vice-president in charge of Sports).

During this gala evening aimed at encouraging sports practice by awarding an envelope of 107 300 €a statistic caught the public's attention. Nearly half of the scholarship recipients came from the same club: AASS Karate Teal.

This included 29 winners in all categories: retraining, national collectives, hopefuls, next generation, seniors, elite and exceptional. A record!

“Our year has been very rich,” underlines the club’s technical director, Daniel de Barros. We were the first club to have 20 representatives at the same Senior European Karate Championship. A competition marked by second titre continental in – 68 kg from Alizée Agier. Internationally, we had 5 representatives at the Team World Cup, two of the three French medalists at the Open and the only Valdoisienne to medal (Elsa Schmitt in junior – 53 kg) at the Youth Worlds,” says he.

Pure you kumite

The AASS Karate has largely confirmed its place as No. 1 French in kumite (combat), which explains its staggering number of scholarship holders.

“We won 11 medals out of 18 possible at the French Senior Championships, the two team titles (men's and women's) at the French U21 Championships and numerous individual national titles thanks to cadet Eleanor Picazo Luque (- 61 kg), hopefuls Emma Coranson Beaudu and Ryan Gari (in + 68 kg and – 75 kg) and seniors Tylla Levacher (- 55 kg), Garcia (+ 68 kg), Kilian Cizo (- 75 kg) and Dany Makamata (- 84 kg). »

Finally, the club climbed into the top 3 in France in kata thanks to Ahmed Zemouri's development project and the efficiency of Lucas Hoffmann (3e of the 2022 Junior Worlds), Ali Sofuoglu (world champion) or even Dilara Bozan (European champion).
