exceptional concert-event celebrating the 80th birthday of William Christie at the Royal Opera of the Château de Versailles, in the magnificent city of Versailles.
William Christie, pioneer of the Baroque rediscovery and passionate defender of the arts and culture of the Grand Siècle, is an internationally acclaimed conductor. This concert will highlight some of the works dearest to his heart, drawn from French music of the 17th and 18th centuries. You will be enchanted by an anthology of pieces performed by members of his musical family, including instrumentalists and solo singers, with a few surprises in store.
The program includes major works by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Jean-Baptiste Lully and Jean-Philippe Rameau. You will be able to enjoy extracts from 'Médée', 'Atys', 'Pygmalion', 'Les Fêtes d'Hébé', 'Platée', 'Hippolyte et Aricie', and 'Les Indes galantes'. Each piece has been carefully selected to offer a rich and varied musical experience.
