With nearly five thousand students present on three campuses: Bourges, Vierzon and Saint-Amand-Montrond, the department is the third university center in the Centre-Val de Loire region and numbers have increased by 40% in sixteen years.
Le Cher wanted to publish the first catalog of higher education courses available in the department. This catalog is intended for families, middle and high school students in Cher. It lists the 101 training courses offered in many fields, whether in robotics, sport, health, law, tourism, communication, etc.
“Show that you can do higher education not far from home”
Patrick Barnier, vice-president of the Cher Departmental Council, in charge of regional planning, digital technology and higher education, and Anne Cassier, vice-president in charge of education and youth, were keen to explain the philosophy of such a work. “We want to remove the psychological barrier and show that you can do higher education not far from home,” says Patrick Barnier.
The catalog will be distributed in December to more than two thousand high school students in the thirteen establishments in Cher and at the beginning of February to the nearly three thousand third grade students in the twenty-seven colleges. The catalog is also in PDF version on the departmental council website.
