For the third consecutive year, Amiens SC will face ES Thaon in the Coupe de France. After an elimination in the round of 32 in January 2023 and a narrow qualification last year at the 8th round stage, the Amiens must return to the Vosges – this time to Epinal – for a match that looks like a great one. An act 3 which enchants the resident of National 3 a little less?
Thaon would have liked a Ligue 1
We take the same ones (or almost) and start again. This has been the common story of Thaon and Amiens for two years. For the third consecutive edition, fate has indeed decided it this way. To the point of tiring the Vosges? “It’s already quite exceptional to reach this level. Amiens remains a good Ligue 2 club. But it’s certain that when we arrive in 32nd year, we hope to face a big Ligue 1 club, recognizes Romain Chouleur, the coach of ES Thaon, among our colleagues at 100% Vosges. The problem isn’t Amiens, we’re happy to play against them, it’s just the fact that it’s repetitive. »
What is also repetitive for Thaon is the ability to bring down professional teams in recent years, Amiens of course but Nancy and Sochauxa few months after the departure of Omar Daf from Doubs for Dijon. “It’s exceptional for a club like us to reach this stage of the competition and to achieve great results. This owes nothing to chance, it is the fruit of the work of the players who did the right thing, insists the Vosges technician. It’s a source of pride. »
And far from being satisfied, Thaon would like to do it again against the Picards with the hope of finally winning a Ligue 1 and thus trying to do better than against Nantes in 2023 (elimination on penalties – 0-0 2- 4, Editor’s note).
