The NASCAR Canada series unveiled its calendar for the 2025 season this Friday. The series offers twelve races, instead of 13 in 2024, which will take place on road circuits (5 events) and on ovals (7) in five Canadian provinces. . “The 2025 calendar highlights the diversity and excellence of Canadian motorsport,” declared Alan Labrosse, general manager of the NASCAR Canada series. “By combining historic tracks and new circuits, this calendar represents the best of what NASCAR Canada has to offer, while allowing our teams and competitors a good balance,” he adds.
In fact, we have the impression that the series listened to the drivers because even if the expensive trip to the West of the country remains on the program, it was shortened in time and the clay court event in Ohsweken (Ontario) was been removed from this 2025 calendar, which will please as many people as possible. As NASCAR Canada cars were not designed, and did not have tires adapted, for this type of surface, the show of recent years at Ohsweken was disappointing compared to what real cars adapted to clay can provide. . NASCAR Canada’s decision to remove this race from the calendar, like the long trip to Newfoundland, is therefore logical.
“As we continue to share the passion for our sport internationally, we are looking for innovative ways to keep our current fans engaged and attract new ones,” said Chad Seigler, vice president and international director of NASCAR. “We are convinced that the calendar for the 2025 season and the addition of new circuits will help us achieve this objective,” he specifies. Speaking of new circuits, the addition of Calabogie Motorsports Park is the only real surprise of this 2025 calendar. But it is welcome while the road circuit located southwest of Ottawa, although not equipped to accommodate several thousand spectators, will be a nice challenge for the drivers of the series.
Calabogie will therefore host a NASCAR Canada round for the first time on July 27. This will be the second road course race of the year, following Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsport Park) at the start of the season, during the traditional Victoria Day Weekend SpeedFest in May. The Autodrome Chaudière in Vallée-Jonction will once again be the first race on an oval, at the end of May, before seeing the series return for the first time in 3 years to Sunset Speedway, in Innisfil, Ontario. The short ovals of Antigonish (Nova Scotia), Edmonton International Raceway (Alberta) and Sutherland Automotive Speedway (Saskatchewan) will follow.
Calabogie will mark the start of the second half of the season before the most important race, from the point of view of the number of fans and media coverage in any case, the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. The GP3R will mark the second of 4 consecutive road circuit races, followed by a return to the ICAR Complex two weeks later and then the second annual visit to Mosport on August 31.
The penultimate race of the 2025 season will take place at Delaware Speedway on a Saturday evening, no doubt drawing a sizable crowd of fans to this traditional Ontario stock car venue. Finally, for the second consecutive year, NASCAR Canada will return to Autodrome Montmagny to compete in the season finale on September 21.
