An educational center serving families in

On the eve of its opening scheduled for January 2025, the brand new Gisèle Halimi educational center in was inaugurated this Tuesday, December 17.

Concerned about the quality of life of its inhabitants, the Region is committed to the success of young people and supports the educational projects of its municipalities. In the heart of the Chasse Royale district of Valenciennes, a brand new educational center has emerged thanks to the support of your Region. New equipment that will support parents and children from pregnancy to college.

And brand new educational center

Originally imagined to bring together the Louise Weiss and Siméon Cuveillier schools in Valenciennes, it is an even more ambitious project which saw the light of day in the Chasse Royale district. After receiving the “educational city” label, an innovative and multifunctional educational center is being inaugurated today.

This new building brings together a nursery school with 10 classes and an elementary school with 15 classes. An after-school and extra-curricular welcome complements the building’s service offering by welcoming 245 students from nursery and elementary schools, particularly during the activities offered by the leisure center.

To support parents and children from a very young age, a medical center is installed within the building. It notably houses the PMI and a space dedicated to parenting. Finally, the municipal nursery Les Petits Loups will also join the building.

And real place to live

Co-built with residents and future users, the educational center will allow children and parents to have a unique place focused on schooling, childhood, early childhood, parenthood, sporting activity and monitoring of students in the health field. A place which will also be open to residents and stakeholders in the neighborhood.

A project which not only promotes academic success, but also encourages the development and economic attractiveness of the district, supported by your Region to the tune of 2,875,000 euros under the New National Urban Renovation Program.

A building turned towards the environment

In addition to encouraging student success, the educational center is also focused on the environment by taking into account its environmental impact. Indeed, many biosourced materials were used for the construction of the building. In addition, the equipment will be heated using an efficient heating system based on renewable energies.

By controlling its impact on the environment, this new space supports the ecological transformation of Hauts-de- and is fully integrated into the rev3 regional strategy carried by the Hauts-de-France Region.
