“The Reuse Village is much more than an environmental project. It is the symbol of exemplary local cooperation, which combines ecological ambition and social commitment to offer concrete and accessible solutions to as many people as possible,” assures Marion Besse, director of Ïkos, in a press release. The collective, which brings together nine local structures committed to the circular economy and integration, announces a fundraising of 4 million euros in equity and quasi-equity, provided by Bordeaux Métropole Aménagement, Banque des Territoires, the Caisse d’Épargne Aquitaine Poitou-Charentes (CEAPC), Crédit Agricole Aquitaine Expansion, and local associative and cooperative players united within the SCIC ikos. They complement the 6.5 million euros in public subsidies already granted or currently being examined by local institutions, in order to finance the Reemployment Village.
Unique in France, this 12,000 m space2 dedicated to raising awareness, collecting, sorting, repairing, transforming and selling objects, should enable the creation of 100 jobs, more than half of which are reserved for integration pathways, in addition to 220 already created so far. The construction of the Re-employment Village, which should see the light of day in 2027, will require a forecast investment of 18.5 million euros, for which Ïkos must still borrow an additional 8 million euros.
