They claim “a hundred deflated tires”. A figure to be taken with caution, but an anonymous group, which nicknamed itself “Les Dégonfleurs”, targeted numerous vehicles during the night of Monday December 16 to Tuesday December 17 in Caen.
According to initial testimonies traced back to West France the activists took particular action in the Venoix, Jardin des Plantes and Vaucelles-quartier des Fleurs districts. Most often, two tires per car were deflated in the early morning.
“Some people consume more and more and these oil-hungry metal carcasses are an insult to all of us, argues the collective, via an email addressed to several media editorial offices. Their carrying air is very paltry, just a cry in the dark. » He justifies this gesture by “the fact that the SUV or 4×4 requires more resources than a conventional vehicle. And in fact, more resources, like metal for example, induce more CO2 to extract them and therefore more pollution released into the atmosphere. » In addition, the group (which did not respond to our requests) recalls that “vehicles, being larger, consume more fuel to drive, again causing more pollution in the air”.
