Holder of the diplomas, the former Beauvais pro, Jérôme Brocard, arrives as coach of the N2 first team. In partnership with Romain Elie, his mission will be to confirm the re-establishment of the club and ensure its maintenance in N2.
Last November, the replacement, at the head of the first team in N2, of Christophe Taine by his assistant, Romain Elie, assisted by the B coach, Murtula Sacko had immediately asked the question of the holder of the diploma to be able to officiate in National 2. Without a coach holding the DESJEPS in Football, AS Beauvais Oise could be sanctioned by the French Football Federation (FFF) with a fine per match played or even , more serious, removal of points.
Since Tuesday, December 17, the problem has been resolved, the Beauvais club has formalized the arrival of its new qualified coach, Jérôme Brocard, 50, whom Sébastien Piocelle had also met upon his arrival at the club. “Beyond the youth project, I wanted there to be a strong Beauvaisian or even local identity, I spoke with a lot of former players, and in particular graduates, underlines the general manager of the club, Sébastien Piocelle, who was considering the installation, rather for the following season, of a Beauvais staff. But, by force of circumstances, I reconnected with Jérôme and it happened naturally since Beauvais is a club which left its mark on him.
«it’s a great opportunity to resume in collaboration with the current coaches»
As surprising as it may seem, the former attacking midfielder born and trained in Beauvais – and who played more than 60 matches in Ligue 2 in National with ASBO – had until then never managed a Beauvais team. Coach at SC Just in his early days, the man whose professional playing career took him to Châteauroux (L2) or La Gantoise (Belgian League 1) before ending up in the Oise, had continued with the U 18s of Compiègne before to take charge of the Compiègnoise B team (R2). “It’s a great chance to return to my club with this role, it’s a great opportunity to work again with the current coaches.», welcomed Jérôme Brocard, also a part-time PE teacher in Compiègne.
A studious truce for the staff
It remains to be seen how the duo in place (Elie-Sacko) and Jérôme Brocard will find their feet knowing that the ASBO director office has appreciated the first steps of the former, at the head of the first team, for a little over ‘one month. “We are satisfied with the work done on the ground but also outside and we wanted to continue on this, the idea is not to turn everything upside down”specifies in advance the general manager for whom it is important to ensure continuity in the work carried out. “What is certain is that Jérôme is the holder of the diploma, he arrives as a coach, he will be there with the group and with the staff, I think that Jérôme is the ideal person to continue and carry out the season.
The truce should therefore be studious in Beauvais, which Jérôme Brocard confirms: “we have several work meetings and we are going to lay the foundations of our work”. According to the new coach’s first impressions, getting along with the existing staff should not be complicated. “We have already laid certain foundations, we agree on many areas, in terms of operation, with things that they have put in place or that they will put in place. We also agree on the principles of play”.
This is good because the Beauvaisiens will only have a short break with resumption of training set for December 29 to play their late match, in Biesheim, on January 4, 2025.
Which Beauvais group to take over? New departures announced
There remains one question, and a big one, with which group will the Beauvais staff leave? Present at the press conference, the president of the ASBO association, Corinne Corillion, confirmed that the budget presented to the DNCG was 1.3 million euros (compared to 1.8 million euros last season) , which leads or will inevitably lead to new departures after those of Diaguely Dabo, Mathis Cherchour or Ezekiel Digbeu. “The players we want to leave for financial reasons have been aware of this for a while, you see it in relation to the match sheets. What we didn’t want was to weaken the team, I don’t think that will be the case.specified Sébastien Piocelle while Jérôme Brocard was able to get an idea of the squad during a friendly match, Tuesday evening, against the U 19 Nat de Chambly.
