Team Canada’s ski cross athletes delivered a dominant performance at the FIS Ski Cross World Cup in Arosa, Switzerland. Canadians occupied the three steps of the podium in women’s ski cross: Marielle Thompson took first place, followed by India Sherret and Hannah Schmidt.

Marielle Thompson, last season’s Crystal Globe holder, started her season strong with a win and third place in Val Thorens, last week. India Sherret also won in Val Thorens. Thompson and Sherret currently occupy the top two spots in the FIS Ski Cross World Cup standings.

For Schmidt, this third place in Arosa marks a first podium this season. Arosa has special meaning to her because last year, Hannah and her brother Jared Schmidt won the men’s and women’s races, each taking first place.

On the men’s side, after coming close to the podium in Val Thorens, Reece Howden made up for it in Arosa by winning. He shared the podium with the Italian Simone Deromedis and the Swede David Mobaerg. Howden is now second in the FIS Ski Cross World Cup standings. Jared Schmidt finished fourth in the men’s grand final.
