SENEGAL-MAURITANIA-HYDROCARBONS / The Grand Tortue Ahmeyim project 97% completed since September (operators) – Senegalese press agency

Saint-Louis, Dec 17 (APS) – The Grand Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project has been 97 percent complete since the end of last September, APS learned from the multinational British Petroleum (BP) and its partners, at opportunity for the inauguration of solar containers and an information center in Saint-Louis (north).

“BP, as operator, and its partners Kosmos Energy, Petrosen and SMH, continue to progress in the delivery of Phase 1 of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project which is more than 97 percent complete by the end of September 2024,” indicate the operator BP and its partners in a press release made public.

According to this same source, “the teams are working hard to ensure smooth integration and commissioning of all parts into a single megaproject ready for gas production.”

The cold container project is led by BP and its project partners, Kosmos Energy and Petrosen, alongside the municipality and representatives of the Guet Ndar and Goxu Mbath fishing wharves, another statement said.

The text adds that it aims to support the fishing community of Goxu Mbath and local economic development.

The information center is set up to welcome residents and answer their questions about the GTA project, he adds.

He reports that a BP team is present every day of the week to provide information on the progress of the project, its local content strategy, among other topics.

Massaer Cissé, vice-president and general manager of BP Senegal, led these two activities, according to a BP briefing note.

GTA is a gas production project located straddling Senegalese and Mauritanian territorial waters.

BP owns 61 percent of the project.
