A week later, the northern ring road of Caen East still closed for several days, for works. Traffic will be completely cut off, in one direction, on two sections between Hérouville Saint-Clair and the north of Caen.
The ring road closed for 2 km from this evening
This new phase of construction began last night. According to the North-West Interdepartmental Roads Directorate (Dirno), this Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the ring road is inaccessible in the external direction Paris-Cherbourg, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., “between interchange no. 3 ‘Porte d’Angle’ and interchange no. 5 ‘Côte de Nacre’”. Either a closure of more than 2 km.
The Dirno advises motorists to follow the diversion “via the inner ring road”.
To lay the final coating on the roadway
In the same direction, the ring road will be closed again “during the night of Wednesday December 18 to Thursday December 19”, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., over a shorter distance, “between interchange no. 4 ‘Pierre Heuzé’ and the interchange no. 5 ‘Côte de Nacre’.
This time, the Dirno advises going through Hérouville, on the avenues of Grande Cavée and Parc Saint-André, to bypass the work.
The following evening, from Thursday December 19 to Friday December 20, the exits from interchange no. 5 Côte de Nacre, towards the Caen University Hospital, “will be accessible in both directions”, indicates Dirno.
According to her, these works are centered on the road repair. A final coating must be laid, with its marking on the ground, after more than 6 years of a project whose completion has been postponed many times.
