This collective work highlights the need to protect water resources. The ceremony brought together several local actors, including Jean-François Hoareau, president of Dionéo and elected official of the City of Saint-Denis, Stéphane Laurent, general director of runéo, and Mickaël Pausé, division manager at the Direction des Eaux Potable et Rainfed.
– An educational project around the water cycle –
For three weeks, CM1 students followed workshops organized by Dionéo, a structure specializing in raising awareness of water management. These sessions aimed to explain the drinking water cycle and the techniques necessary for its preservation, while encouraging eco-responsible actions.
Secondly, the students were supervised by the Réunion Graffiti association to learn graffiti techniques. Their work gave birth to a fresco which illustrates the stages of drinking water and wastewater treatment, while carrying a clear message: preserving water is a collective responsibility.
– A symbol for the future –
Signed by the students, the mural is now visible on the Colorado reservoir. According to the speakers present at the inauguration, this work reflects both the commitment of younger generations and the need to act to guarantee sustainable use of water resources.
Jean-François Hoareau underlined the importance of such an initiative, declaring: “This fresco goes beyond the simple artistic framework. It testifies to a youth aware of environmental challenges and ready to get involved.”
– A collective and partnership project –
The creation of this fresco involved several partners. Dionéo, runéo and CINOR brought their expertise to raise students’ awareness of water issues. The Réunion Graffiti association, for its part, guided the students in artistic creation. Finally, the Ruisseau Blanc school integrated this project into its civic education program.
This project highlights the importance of “acting in the face of water scarcity, accentuated by the effects of climate change and intensive uses”, explains the town hall. The initiative also highlights “the need for collective mobilization, combining education, awareness and concrete action”.
