Partnership

Science invites itself once again amid the glitter and magic of Christmas at Espace Mendès-. This Sunday, December 22, 2024, to get the end-of-year holidays off to a good start, it’s time to organize a family outing for a “Sciences and Wonders” afternoon.

All senses awakened, curious young or old will no longer know where to turn in the face of the multiple workshops accessible to all.

Toys, snowflakes and chocolate

“The toy race” consists of creating a video game in which you help a character cross the road without getting knocked down to collect as many gifts as possible. The bioluminescence workshop invites you to discover these living beings that produce light. How to tame it? This is what he offers through the manufacture of a phosphorescent Christmas ball.

No magic of Christmas without snow. Failing to see it fall, a ruler, a compass and a hint of geometry are enough to create magnificent flakes identical to those offered to us by nature if we take the time to observe them very closely.

“Turnicoti, tournicota, the Arduino will help you”! Behind this magic formula hides a small electrical controller which allows you to program and create lots of small objects.

For those who prefer history, welcome to Toumaï, one of our ancestors, to explore the evolution of the human species.

Exhibitions for young and old

Between two workshops, all the exhibitions will be accessible to visitors, just to immerse themselves in the world of science of all kinds.

The very young public will also be welcome since an exhibition is specifically aimed at them. “Living for Real” is aimed at 2-6 year olds. Through the discovery of eight unusual creatures, little visitors will be able to see that each one has specific faculties: one speaks, the other eats, this one moves or breathes. That’s life.

Older children are invited, in small strides of course, to head towards the exhibition “Movements, the body in motion”, to learn everything about the benefits of daily physical activity, even in small doses. And in this matter, there are plenty of preconceived ideas to discard, plenty of advice to apply and even experiments to carry out to take stock of your physical form.

If all the lights are green regarding your physical condition, don’t hesitate to take a look at the exhibition on chocolate, its culture around the world, the economy that revolves around this product, the chemistry that transforms its beans with a sweet taste… And if not, don’t deprive yourself of this visit, chocolate, it is well known, is good for morale!

Before leaving, don’t forget to take a look in Mrs. Lupin’s little lab, a cabinet of scientific curiosities, each one as astonishing as the next, and at the Dodo, a bird not quite like the others.
