A week ago, the announcement of the permanent closure of the Dock des Suds immediately provoked a wave of reactions in the cultural and festive community. A collective Where does the night go? had seen the light of day. And the mayor of Marseille, Benoît Payan, had taken a position in favor of a future for the site. If the legendary building of Marseille evenings is set to disappear, the abandonment of the Cité du cinéma project, which was to take its place, suggested a few months of respite for the Latinissimo association, manager of the place. This in fact asked Euroméditerranée, which is carrying out its vast urban renovation operation in the Arenc district, to renew the lease every six months, while the future of the site is decided. A proposal which had been refused.

But, a new twist in this struggle which has lasted for several years now, Euroméditerranée announces, in a press release, that it has “heard the concerns of cultural actors about the future of the Dock des Suds site“. “While waiting for the final project, the outlines of which will be discussed in the coming months with its governance, State and communities, Euroméditerranée will continue to bring the Dock des Suds site to life in the service of culture, its inhabitants, its youth“, it is still written.
