On November 4, police officers monitored a well-known deal point, Allée Barbara, in Saint-Nazaire. Their attention is focused on a young man wearing a black balaclava and a gray hood. Quickly arrested, he was found in possession of a small quantity of cannabis and 345 euros in cash. Nearby, under the wheel of a car, the police discovered 38 grams of cocaine and 41 grams of cannabis resin packaged in sachets.
A confusing story and a fragile defense
Faced with the judges, the defendant multiplied the vague explanations before admitting that he knew the reputation of the neighborhood. While in police custody, he claimed to have come to see a girlfriend. In his defense, the young man insisted that he was a consumer, not a seller. However, his background weighed heavily in the balance. In seven convictions, he has already been involved in several drug-related cases.
A conviction without appeal
The Saint-Nazaire court was not convinced. The 25-year-old man was sentenced to twelve months in prisonaccompanied by four additional months for revocation of a previous reprieve. Furthermore, it is now prohibited from staying in Loire-Atlantique for three years.
With this conviction, justice intends to reiterate its firmness in the face of drug trafficking. In the Bouletterie district, known for its deal points, the authorities remain mobilized to stem this scourge.
