This Friday, December 13, Mrs. Brigitte Klinkert, deputy for Haut-Rhin, councilor for Alsace and member of the Board of Directors of the Haut-Rhin Fire and Rescue Service (SIS 68), went to Victor College Hugo from Colmar to attend the “gestures that save” operation.
Supported by SIS 68, this initiative aims to introduce all 11,000 middle school students in the department to first aid procedures. Supervised by firefighters, students acquire essential skills to intervene quickly in the event of an emergency.
During her visit, Mrs. Klinkert participated in an initiation session with a 4th grade class. She praised the commitment of the schoolchildren present and expressed her gratitude to the firefighters for their investment in this awareness operation. “Training young people in first aid means giving them the means to become responsible citizens capable of acting when necessary. This initiative is exemplary and essential,” she declared.
Mr. Michel Grentzinger, deputy principal of the college, Lieutenant-Colonel Christophe Marchal and Commander Philippe Hurst were also present for the occasion. Together, they reaffirmed the importance of this training to prepare young people to react to emergency situations.
This day illustrates SIS 68’s commitment to prevention and citizen training, allowing the youth of Haut-Rhin to become a key player in the relief chain.
