Pau: the administrative restaurants of Pau obtain the “committed organic establishment” label

To obtain this label, RIAs had to offer at least 22% organic products in their menus, and all told there are 28%! Thanks to this progression, the two restaurants can now claim an additional distinction: a range, awarded to establishments achieving more than 25% organic products in their menus.

A new restaurant

“Thanks to the help of Interbio Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Civam Béarn, we were able to purchase from organic producers whose products are not necessarily more expensive than other similar non-organic products,” confides Jacques Guilbert, the president of AGRIA. For Philippe Leymat, president of Interbio, “the additional cost of organic can also be offset by work in the kitchen”.

“This demonstrates a form of consistency in respecting the Egalim law and the development of the organic sector. This label is a signal sent to RIA consumers to make them aware of this issue in their daily lives,” says Jean-Marie Girier, the prefect of Pyrénées-Atlantiques. As a reminder, the Egalim law sets a target of 50% quality or local products including 20% organic.

The prefect also announced the construction of a new RIA in the coming 18 months, on the 5th floor of the prefecture in place of the covered garage “which is no longer really useful”. Let us also remember that the Palois RIAs are the first in to be under direct management. Created in 1982, they welcome agents from several administrations at affordable rates. It is the Agria association which manages these two restaurants. 133,000 meals are served there each year for customers from 13 administrations or other organizations that have signed an agreement.
