Bakel, Dec 17 (APS) – Participants in the second edition of the Bakel Women’s and Youth Agri-Food and Craft Fair welcomed the smooth running of this economic activity, welcoming in particular the opportunities for partnerships and exchanges. of experiences offered by this three-day meeting.
At the initiative of the Municipal Network of Women’s Groups of Bakel in partnership with the Sustainable Development Research Group (GRDR), the Agri-Food and Craft Fair aims to promote the economic potential of the Bakel department, we learned from the initiators.
They talk about its ambition to support “the entrepreneurial dynamics” of women and young people working in the agri-food and craft industries in this commune in eastern Senegal.
“I exhibited around a hundred products. Regarding coconut ginger and milk, everything was purchased during the three days,” rejoiced Pongui Soumaré, from the Djike de Gabou economic interest group (EIG).
For her second participation in this fair, she is pleased with the fact that this event offered her the opportunity to “form links with exhibitors from different backgrounds”.
Coming from neighboring Mauritania, Houdou Sow welcomed the exchange of experiences and the expertise he discovered during the fair.
“In terms of organization, the women of Bakel are ahead of us. It was an opportunity to learn and pass it on once in the country,” Mr. Sow said.
“We are satisfied having sold half of our products and purchased products from other exhibitors. Links were also forged,” says Diariatou Sakiliba Bagayogo, a Malian exhibitor.
The president of the Communal Network of Women’s Groups of Bakel, Salimata Diagana noted that it is a “sub-regional fair, a place for selling products but also a framework for exchanges, know-how and reflection on issues that take into account the concerns of communities.”
Debates and panels focused on the issues of female entrepreneurship were on the menu for this second edition of the Bakel agri-food and craft fair, bringing together exhibitors from Tambacounda and Matam, as well as Mali and Mauritania, since Saturday. .
