XALIMANEWS-CAF has revealed the four hats which will determine the groups of CAN 2025, in anticipation of the draw scheduled for January 27 in Rabat. Senegal, currently second African nation in the FIFA rankings, appears in Pot 1.
The Lions of Teranga, ranked 2? African nation, will find themselves alongside Morocco (1?? in the African ranking), Egypt (33?), Algeria (37?), Nigeria (44?), and Ivory Coast (46?, title holder). This means that Senegal will avoid meeting these big teams from Hat 1. Instead, it will face more or less tough opponents from Hat 2, such as Cameroon, Mali, Tunisia, South Africa or even DR Congo. Other possible opponents also include Gabon and Zambia, who are in the C.
Possible opponents for Senegal:
Hat 2: Senegal could face strong teams like Cameroon, Mali, Tunisia, South Africa, or the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Hat 3: Senegal could also face teams such as Gabon, Zambia or Equatorial Guinea, who, although lower in the FIFA rankings, still pose a threat.
Hat 4: Finally, Senegal could find themselves facing lower ranked teams, such as Mozambique, Comoros, Tanzania, Sudan, Zimbabwe or Botswana, but these teams should not be underestimated.
In competition, to become champion, it is necessary to beat the best teams, regardless of the ranking level of the opponents.
CAN 2025: Senegal in Hat 1, potential opponents for the Lions of Teranga.
Details of the hats:
Hat 1: Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Ivory Coast.
Hat 2: Cameroon, Mali, Tunisia, South Africa, DR Congo, Burkina Faso.
Hat 3: Gabon, Angola, Zambia, Uganda, Equatorial Guinea, Benin.
Hat 4: Mozambique, Comoros, Tanzania, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Botswana.
