Appointed on September 18, Christian Nussbaum is the new boss of the Cayenne National Police. A ceremony took place this Wednesday, December 11, at the Loubère barracks. Before Guyana, Christian Nussbaum was with the judicial police in Marseille. He takes stock of his priorities and his journey.
Who is Christian Nussbaum ? The new territorial director of the National Police of Cayenne has taken office. This Wednesday, December 11, a ceremony took place at the Loubère barracks. He was appointed on September 18 to succeed Philippe Jos.
Before Guyana, Christian Nussbaum had a career in the judicial police in Marseille. “ I did a little international cooperation because I was stationed in Sudan, he says. Then I was Antilles-Guyana zonal director of the judicial police. Since 2020, Christian Nussbaum was head of the Overseas Mission of the General Directorate of the National Police.
“We always have apprehensions when we take on a new position, mine are reduced because I have known Guyana for a long time”relates Christian Nussbaum who has been visiting our territory regularly since 2016. “From now on, I am becoming operational on territorial issues,” he continues. “Now, I have a service to manage and advance for Guyana.”

Its priorities will be in “the continuity of the action of (s)one’s predecessor”he explains. “It is first of all to fight against violent delinquency in the police zone, we must maintain the effectiveness of our operation 100% and find new processes to improve the security of our fellow citizens”, wishes the new boss of the National Police. Implemented in 2023, Operation 100% consists of controlling 100% of passengers at Félix Eboué airport to fight against air trafficking of cocaine via mules.
The new police boss also intends “advancing the fight against irregular immigration”. “We have already implemented ATIPA, the reinforced border control operation which is starting to bear fruit,” in Saint-Laurent du Maroni.
Christian Nussbaum replaces Philippe Jos at the head of the Cayenne national police. Philippe Jos has been appointed to the interdepartmental direction of the national police, in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique).
