Following his meeting with Donald Trump in Paris, Prime Minister François Legault on Wednesday demanded a costed plan from Ottawa to secure the border between Canada and the United States.
Mr. Legault intends to share his requests with his federal counterpart, Justin Trudeau, during a new virtual meeting this afternoon, in the company of the prime ministers of the other provinces.
“I will repeat to him that it is urgent that he table a plan to secure the borders, to avoid having tariffs [douaniers]. This plan must be quantified: how much money it puts in, how many people it adds,” he commented upon his arrival at the Council of Ministers.
According to -, the federal government plans to invest more than a billion dollars to secure the border with the American neighbor, but the details are still not known.

His ten-minute meeting with Donald Trump in Paris this weekend finally convinced him.
“It’s urgent if we don’t want to have tariffs. I had the chance to chat with Donald Trump. I am more convinced than ever that it is urgent to submit this plan,” he declared.
