The gendarmes of Grand-Champ, Elven and Nivillac now have a new tool which should strengthen their security during night-time interventions in particular. It is a small box equipped with flashing light diodes which can be placed on the gendarme's shoulder but also placed on a metal plate – a car for example -. The box sends a multitude of red and blue flashes which alert you of potential danger. “This increases the safety of the police when they intervene, for example, in an accident in the middle of the night, particularly in poor weather conditions, such as fog. We already have effective reflective bibs, provided that the headlights illuminate them. This box is additional equipment…” explains squadron leader Fabien Dutartre, commander of the Vannes gendarmerie company. This box is not new, the gendarmes of Questembert for example had three of them personally. On Tuesday, 31 boxes were allocated to the Grand-Champ brigade, which allows the entire brigade to be equipped. This is a relatively large investment which could only be made with the support of the GMF, the insurer of public sector agents which recently merged with UNEO, the mutual of the armies, but also of the mixed circle of the mobile gendarmerie squadron 15/3, underlines the squadron leader. He was also accompanied by the South Brittany manager of the GMF, David Lemaitre, for the delivery of this equipment to the Grand-Champ gendarmes. “This shows that no brigade is forgotten. These are also located near major roads, where risky interventions are most frequent,” underlines the company commander.
