A new roundabout was inaugurated this Wednesday, December 4 in Airvault (Deux-Sèvres). In the shape of an eight, it allows the junction between several departmental roads in a safe manner, in an area where many accidents have been recorded.
After two and a half months of work, the infrastructure was inaugurated by the Coralie Dénouespresident of the Department, Philippe Brémondvice-president in charge of mobility as well asOlivier Fouiletmayor of Airvault.
The roundabout was designed in an elongated shape, also called a “peanut” shape, and connects the following routes:
- RD 144
- RD 724
- RD 725e
- Plantons municipal road
A simplification of the roads
With this modern infrastructure, the road system is simplified and less dangerous. Vehicles can now move smoothly to connect the two departmental roads.
The work cost €480,000 and was financed 70% by the town of Airvault and 30% by the Department of Deux-Sèvres.
