While winter is fast approaching and temperatures have already dropped significantly, the 28 tenants of a new residence in Lagord (Charente-Maritime) have been living without heating and without hot water for more than a week. “In the rooms, sometimes, we are around 14-15 degrees,” deplores a resident to France 3 New Aquitaine .
This mother has decided to move next month because she is exasperated by the situation. Another resident, who has lived here since May 2023, confides that this is not the first time this has happened. “Last year, we had water and heating cuts that could last up to forty-eight hours,” she says.
Electric convectors on loan
Contacted by our colleagues, the manager of these social housing units assured that he was doing his best to resolve this breakdown, which is believed to be due to two heat pump compressors. An intervention is scheduled to take place on December 16 and 17. In the meantime, electric convectors have been loaned to tenants.
In Angers (Maine-et-Loire), around thirty residents experienced the same problem at the end of November. With temperatures hovering near negative temperatures, their heating didn't work for at least six weeks. Their social landlord recognized dysfunctions and investigations were carried out by Engie to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
