The Ariège prefecture announced in a press release that an administrative search would be organized tomorrow, Thursday December 12, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., on the outskirts of the RN20, along the Foix/ Tarascon-sur-Ariège. Areas “usually not hunted but in which wild boars and deer have grouped together”, underlines the prefecture.
“Reduce the risk of accidents linked to animal crossings”
This operation aims to reduce the risk of traffic accidents caused by the frequent crossing of animals, reported for many years by mayors and road users. Provided for by a prefectural decree, it will be carried out gradually, sector by sector, by wolf scouts, in collaboration with local approved municipal hunting associations.
The hunt will take place within the perimeter of the municipalities of Ferrières, Montgailhard, Saint-Paul-de-Jarrat, Montoulieu, Mercus-Garrabet, Arignac, Bompas and Tarascon-sur-Ariège. The state services mobilized will ensure the security of operations.
Closure of the RN20 tomorrow between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Thus, the RN20 will be closed to traffic between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and diversions will be put in place for road users.
- In the Toulouse-Andorra direction: the road will be closed between interchange 10 and the Tarascon-sur-Ariège roundabout, with a diversion towards the RD919, RD117 and RD618 for all vehicles.
- In the Andorra-Toulouse direction the road will be closed between the Tarascon-sur-Ariège roundabout and interchange 11, with a diversion towards the RD618 and RD117 for light vehicles and heavy goods vehicles less than 3.5 T and the RD117, RD625 and RD119 for heavy goods vehicles over 3.5 T (via Lavelanet, Mirepoix and Pamiers).
“Motorists using the detour routes must strictly respect the speed limits indicated. The areas where the operations will take place will be secure and supervised by the organizers who invite strict compliance with the instructions and markings. The prefect thanks the cub scouts and hunters, as well as all the public services mobilized (DIRSO, police, gendarmerie, OFB, prefecture agents), who will participate in this operation necessary for the safety of road users”, the prefecture of Ariège.
