Trail des Sables 2024: an unmissable success in Lot-et-Garonne

A unique trail in Albret

Sunday December 8, 2024, the Trail des Sables brought together 725 participants in Cauderoue, between Nérac, Barbaste and Réaup. This trail, run on sandy paths lined with pine trees, in a unique natural setting, has once again won over the runners.

Organized by Cap Animationthis second edition attracted 200 more participants than in 2023, demonstrating growing enthusiasm. Although the weather imposed cool temperatures and light rain, this did not dampen the enthusiasm of the participants. At the end of the effort, everyone was able to enjoy a hot and comforting soup, prolonging the friendly atmosphere of the day.

Notable progress and appreciated new features

The four courses offered – 15 km, 9 km, 5 km and one hiking – appealed to a varied audience, from seasoned runners to nature lovers. This year's new features, including the 5 kmthe hiking and the shared meal at the end of the day, were a real success.

A unifying organization serving the territory

The Trail des Sables is based on exemplary collaboration. More than 60 volunteers ensured the reception, logistics and security of the participants. The support ofAlbret Hiking to supervise the hike and volunteers from theNérac Youth Athletic Club (ACJN) was essential to the success of the event.

Local communities – Albret Communitythe town halls of Nerac, Mezin, Reap, Barbasteand theAlbret Tourist Office – as well as private partners such as Popular Bank, Ford Bellandi Nérac, The Winegrowers of Buzet, Picoty Aquitaineand many others played a key role.

The awards ceremony, in the presence of local elected officials, including Nicolas Lacombemayor of Nérac, embodied the collective and unifying spirit of this day.

A promising dynamic for 2025

With impeccable organization, significant new features and an exceptional natural setting, the Trail des Sables has established itself as a flagship sporting and friendly event in Lot-et-Garonne. Cap Animation We are already looking forward to a new, even more ambitious edition in 2025.
