The King of Morocco Mohammed VI operated “successfully” after “a fracture of the humerus”

The King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, underwent surgery on Sunday December 8, 2024 in Rabat on his left shoulder. He fractured his humerus after a fall “during a sporting activity”according to an official press release.

“During a usual sporting activity carried out this Sunday”the 61-year-old monarch “had a fall causing trauma to the left shoulder with fracture of the humerus”, indicated a press release from his medical team relayed by the Moroccan agency MAP.

“This fracture required surgical intervention, which took place successfully today at the Palais Royal clinic in Rabat,” detailed this press release.

The king’s left shoulder “will be immobilized for a period of 45 days” et “a period of functional rehabilitation” will follow, according to the same source.

“Sciatica” during Emmanuel Macron’s visit

During Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Morocco at the end of October, Mohammed VI appeared leaning on a cane, due to “from sciatica” according to local media.

Nearly a month later, local media relayed casual photos of the king walking without a cane through the streets of in the company of Crown Prince Moulay Hassan and Princess Lalla Khadija. Mohammed VI has reigned over Morocco since July 1999, when he succeeded his father Hassan II.
