A burst of speed… and a big stop
At the start of the week, on Departmental 22 between Uzès and Dions, a forty-year-old on a motorbike was flashed by the motorized brigade (BMO) of Bagnols-sur-Cèze. His speedometer showed 181 km/h, more than 100 km/h above the authorized limit. A performance which did not bring him luck, the gendarmes were quick to arrest him.
Immediate sanction and reminder of the law
In addition to a strong reminder of the safety rules, the man had to say goodbye, immediately, to his driving license and his two-wheeler, confiscated by the authorities. As a reminder, exceeding the authorized speed by more than 40 km/h automatically results in your license being withheld. Driving despite this retention can result in up to 2 years in prison, a fine of €4,500, and a suspension of your license for 3 years.
To summarize
Caught at 181 km/h on a road limited to 80 km/h, a Gard motorcyclist saw his license disappear as quickly as his motorbike. A spectacular speeding violation, but costly. On the road, speed can be expensive, literally and figuratively.
