In Côtes-d'Armor, six ultra-right defendants sentenced for the attack at the anti-fascist festival

They were all found guilty. None of the six defendants went to the Saint-Brieuc courthouse this Wednesday, December 4, 2024, to hear the sentences to which they were sentenced for having, in July 2023, attacked the participants in an anti-fascist festival. They appeared last September before the Briochin criminal court for aggravated violence in a meeting, two with the use of a weapon, the four others with their faces covered.

These six young men burst into the Parc des Promenades on July 1, where the Festival for a Free and United was being held, equipped with batons, brass knuckles and baseball bats and injured several people. Five of these six defendants are Trégorrois aged around twenty, the last is a thirty-year-old who lives in the area. All are ultra supporters of En Avant Guingamp or Stade Rennais.

Banned from football stadiums

Four of them were sentenced to ten months in prison. Another, already convicted, received a year in prison, again with a simple suspended sentence. The last, also known to the courts, received a one-year prison sentence suspended for two years, with the obligation during this period to work and compensate the victims. The six are also prohibited from coming into contact with each other or with the victims, and from carrying or possessing a weapon for five years.

They were also sentenced, as an additional sentence, to a ban on appearing in a stadium during football matches for a period of three years. And will have to pay sums to be paid jointly and personally to each of the three victims in the case.

Contacted, the lawyer for the defendants, Me Pierre-Marie Bonneau, explains that he must speak with his clients before deciding whether or not they intend to appeal this judgment.
