It’s an obstacle course. Maurice Schaffhauser, 67 years old, resident of Wickerschwihr, died administratively at the end of September 2024. However, in fact, Maurice is doing very well, and is still very much alive. This abnormal situation is due to an error occurring during the death of his wife, which occurred a few weeks ago. He explains to our colleagues from 3 that he received a call from the pension fund, explaining to him that he is “presumed deceased”, while he was with his son.

Vital card blocked

This announcement shocked him. His son explains directly to the people at the pension fund that his father is not dead, and that it must be a mistake. But it's too late.

He must therefore obtain a life certificatesomething quickly done. He managed to avoid having his accounts and his retirement blocked thanks to the mayor of the town. But unfortunately, it's too late for vital cards.

Finally, after weeks of fighting, the retiree will soon receive his new card, after two months of fighting. The CPAM du Haut-Rhin explains to France Bleu that “the error has not yet been clearly identified”, and that they would “send a letter of apology explaining the problem”.
