A period of cold will hit France this weekend. Météo-France predicts snowfall “at very low altitude”.
The thermometer will once again touch 0°C. According to Météo-France forecasts, the weather is expected to deteriorate by the end of the week across the entire metropolitan area.
Indeed, after rather mild weather, a cold snap should cause temperatures to drop this Friday, December 6, with rainy or even snowy disturbances in part of France.
In a first forecast alert bulletin, meteorologists observe a risk of snow “at very low altitude”, and “in the plains”, over a large northern half of the country on Sunday December 8 and Monday December 9.
In detail, it should snow locally in the Grand Est, but also in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regions.
However, the temperatures should limit the hold of the flakes on the ground, and the accumulations forecast by Météo-France should remain “safe for the moment”. The episode of November 21 should therefore not be repeated this weekend.
On Sunday, winter will set in before its time, with the mercury reaching 0°C in certain areas, including Bourg-Saint-Maurice (Savoie). A band of rain is also expected in the east of the country.
