From January 1, 2025a single ticket of 2,50 € will replace the different prices currently in force for metro journeys, RER and regional trains throughout Île-de-France. This change, officially approved by the Île-de-France Mobilités board of directors on Tuesday November 12aims to simplify fare options for users, reducing fare combinations of 50,000 in just two tickets. According to Valérie Pécressepresident of Île-de-France Mobilités, this is a real “ticketing revolution” in continuity with the rezoning policy of the pass Navigo started in 2015.
From now on, users will have the choice between a single ticket 2,50 € valid for metro, train and RER journeys, regardless of the geographical area, and a second ticket 2 € for bus and tram journeys. For the latter, the price is increased to 2,50 € if the purchase is made directly from the driver, a dissuasive measure intended to encourage the advance purchase of tickets. Exceptions to this tariff simplification remain and certain on-demand transport is not affected by this reform.
For Parisians, this reform means an increase in the price of the metro ticket, which goes from €2.15 to €2.50also marking the disappearance of the book of ten tickets which allowed travel to 1,73 € per trip. On the other hand, for users coming from more distant municipalities, particularly for RER and Transilien journeys, this single rate brings real savings, significantly reducing costs for journeys previously priced between 3,20 € et 5 €. Île-de-France Mobilities intends to make the pricing system more fair and accessible, regardless of the location of users.

Valérie Pécresse ensures that this reform, despite a loss of income estimated at 30 million euros per year, will be able to finance itself thanks to a slight increase in transport ridership, expected between 1 et 2 %. However, some members of the opposition highlight a lack of upstream consultation and express doubts about the feasibility of this self-financing.
Although Parisians who only use the metro see an increase, this reform embodies a major fare simplification for journeys outside the capital, and should, in the long term, promote more fluid mobility between the different areas of the city.Île-de-France.
