Drôme – Saint-Vallier – violence: Porte de DrômArdèche raises awareness among young people about violence against women

On the occasion of the international day against violence against women, the Porte de DrômArdèche community of communes is joining forces with the Drômois collective Ruban blanc supported by the REMAID association.

During the month of November, communication materials will be distributed widely across the country. Florent Brunet, president, and Marie-Christine Prot, vice-president, presented the awareness actions.

50% of feminicides in rural areas

Enabling young people to play their full part in the fight against violence against women is important. This is the age when each of them builds their personality, their critical thinking but also their relationship with others. It is also the age of first commitments to causes that are close to their hearts. For Ruban Blanc 2024, Porte de DrômArdèche wanted to give them a central place by offering them the opportunity to be actors in this campaign. A final year class from the Lycée des Mandailles was welcomed to Ciné Galaure to watch 3 films which approach the subject in different ways.

Comcom and all of its partners wish to raise awareness of the different forms of violence of which women are victims: physical, psychological, financial, sexist… With 50% of feminicides taking place in rural areas, Porte de DrômArdèche is committed to supporting municipalities and its inhabitants to fight against these actions. Raising awareness requires communication at all levels. A distribution of violence meters and posters denouncing this violence was carried out in several places (colleges, high schools, town halls, libraries, schools, shops, pharmacies, etc.)

140 people walking

“I am proud of Comcom's commitment on this subject. We still too often believe that violence against women only concerns a minority of women, from complicated social backgrounds and that in rare cases it results in feminicides The reality is unfortunately very different and all awareness-raising actions are important from a very young age, especially in rural areas. explained Florent Brunet.

A march was organized on Saturday November 23 with the association Horizons. 140 people participated.
